What size print to hang above a sofa or bed

Aim for about two-thirds of the furniture’s width. Art that’s much narrower looks lost, and art wider than the furniture looks crowded.

Above a three-seater sofa (about 210 cm)

  • Two prints: A1 or 24 × 36″ with a gap of 5–8 cm between them, about 125–130 cm wide in total.
  • Three prints: A2 with 5–8 cm gaps, about 140 cm wide in total.
  • One print: an A1 or 24 × 36″ works, but it will look smaller than the sofa. That’s fine if the wall is narrow.

Above a queen bed (about 155 cm)

A pair of A2 prints, or three at A3, sits well above the bedhead.

How high to hang

  • Leave 15–25 cm between the top of the sofa or bedhead and the bottom of the frame.
  • On an empty wall, hang so the centre of the print or group is about 145–150 cm from the floor, roughly eye level.

Why sets help

Our Art Sets are designed to hang together, and the whole set comes in one size, so spacing above a sofa or bed is easy to get right.

This is general interior guidance, not a rule. Trust what looks right in your room.
